Little Things

So this is the deal... I love to knit but I hate, I mean HATE tiny needles! It should be noted that US size 8 is generally as small as I will go and even then I complain and through a fit and curse my way through projects. That is the first part of the story...

The second is that I started a blanket last Saturday for a baby shower this Saturday and then came to the conclusion on Wednesday that it was simply not going to be done in time and I should instead just make something else. The something else was baby booties from the book "Knockout Knits" given to me by a friend who thought I might enjoy it (there is more but I'll save it for another post). The book promised they knit up quickly and the base of the pattern looked easy enough so I bought (yep, bought because I don't OWN tiny needles) US size 3 needles that are bamboo (another thing I am not fond of but they were the length I needed) and some super soft baby yarn and went to work.

The lessons I learned;
If you drop a stitch on size 3s the only way to pick it up is with a darning needle.It was like a hurricane of bendy bamboo in my hands since I am such a tight knitter and therefor took longer than the prescribed time.I would never have the patience to knit another much larger than booties with needles so small. However, in the end it was worth it because they are so tiny and so sweet I am in love and can't wait to make more. See....
