Nerd Craftiness

This past weekend my husband and a few of our friends attended GenCon (basically 4 days of board games, role playing games, computer games, films, workshops, etc). We occasionally play board games with friends and Shane used to game a lot more and still plays loads of computer games so yeah... my secret is out... I'm kind of a nerd :) That said, I tend to be the more academic nerdy type (hence, my new, "When I was your age we had nine planets" t-shirt)!!!

One of the neat things that they have at GenCon is crafty type workshops! My friend Colleen and I took 3 classes of crafty goodness.... drop spinning, chainmaile making, and paracord bracelet making!

My mom has attempted to teach me to use the drop spindle a few times but I always felt like I needed a tad more instruction. It must have clicked this time and the yarn is so pretty! I have a big chunk of roving waiting for more spinning!
The chainmaile uses both aluminum and rubber rings and is a stretchy 6 loop style. I still need to finish it but I got a good start on a dice/drawstring bag and hope to finish it super soon! Yah for yellow!
Finally, I learned to make a paracord bracelet or rather a classmate of mine helped walk me through it. Now I have my own handmade paracord bracelet in case of emergency.

I just had to share all my nerd craftiness! What fun things did you do this weekend?!
