T-15 Minutes...

I have always, always, always loved the Olympics. Summer games, winter games, and keeping up on several of the sports in the years in between. I was fortunate enough to attend the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City which only strengthened my affection for the games. I love that we as a global community come together to celebrate hard work, determination, and each other. There is also the little known Cultural Olympiad celebrating the arts that takes place at each games.

All this celebration and yet I would remiss if I didn't mention that far too often there is and has been tragedy associated with The Games and sadly, this Games will start with the loss of a young luge sliders, Nodar Kumaritashvili, from Georgia.

Despite the devastating loss, the opening ceremony will begin in 15 little minutes and the world will wrap it's arms around this athlete and his family because it's the spirit of the games...
