Nati = Frogged

The story of my Nati sweater goes like this...

I wanted a simple, warm, and cute sweater for the cold Indiana winter and a pattern that I could potentially make for gifts. The Nati sweater seemed like the perfect pattern (and it might still be) because it met all of the above criteria and was knit on big needles and is a simple pattern so it would be something to do in between other projects. So way back in September of 2009 I cast on and made big progress and then got distracted by other projects both knitting and otherwise. This winter I picked it back up and got within about 9 inches of finishing and ran out of yarn! Fast forward to last weekend. I miraculously found more yarn in the correct dye lot and finished it up...
and it didn't fit!!!

Since it seems that I am a comedy of errors lately, I have learned to try and figure out where I went wrong and how to fix it. I determined that the sweater was too big because a.) I have lost weight and b.) I made a miscalculation when I was modifying the pattern a size up.

With that learned, I am frogging my Nati and putting it back in my knitting cue for next fall to be attempted again.

So why the post about it? Well the answer is simple, I am a perfectionist and I need to learn that it's okay to make mistakes... The world didn't end, no one was hurt, the world didn't stop spinning, and I am still here to knit another day.

So lesson learned... mostly... I hope...
