As I noted in my previous post I have a few goals for my knitting over the next week and change as I enjoy watching the Olympics. However, last night I was taking a wee break and poking around on ravelry and I found this pattern for a Gift Card-igan (get it, it's a cardigan for gift cards or debit cards or credit cards... :) and since I like to try new knitting techniques on smaller projects, this appealed to me. I have never knit cables before and was a little nervous but it just so happens that my monthly knitting group was tonight and the group has a lot of great teachers! So, what you see before you is a.) a new addition to my Olympic "to knit" list and b.) my first attempt at knitting cables!
I think it went fairly well. I feel comfortable with the process and really just need to practice. This particular yarn and needle combination while lovely was maybe not the best for a new cable knitter so I will likely rip this out and give it another go on larger "grippy-er" needles and a yarn that is a tad more forgiving for a newbie.
I also worked on my triangle shawl some but didn't snap a picture of it. Hopefully, I can share a finished version in the coming days?
